No, that title does not say all!
you can simply uninstall it and it wont be started any more.
Otherwise please give us more details: os, gui. probably you have a saved desktop or auto start feature ....

Apologies; have dementia and not always on track or fully functional/loaded...Don't seem to be able to read understand and take action or set goals etc... specially when decision making and doing come with the learning new... basically that's me and has different variables that get more complicated.

Am using Linux Mint 15 Mate 64 bit. up to date too.
Will uninstalling it hinder use of anything and does it need to be replaced by another program? And here again I see lots of stuff in there with the name on it---do they all gotta go or which one/ones are most importand for removal? I take it has a search function as a file browser if I remember correctly. If the loading ten times can't be remedied any other way I guess it has to be entertained. I have no understanding of the innerworkings of Linux and it's desktops just use it on the GUI surface unless it's copy & paste command line. Just can't stay focused long enough to become handy with it.

I recently got a DroidX and using Pageplus cellular PIN 2000minutes/year and that has me blurryburied trying to learn it and customize it to use GoogleVoice to save minutes.!!! thanx agin l8r %)SW

It might help to know why it is starting. What does it displays when it starts?

Just today I got annoyed at Caja opening whenever I reconnected external drives (I was changing out and testing a new USP hub). I went into Edit-->Preferences-->Media and told it to "Never prompt on media insertion." You might try that. (Konqueror is my preferred file manager by far.)

There are a couple of threads on the official MATE forum about this. There is also a bug report on MATE's github page. I haven't heard of it happening for quite a while and you are the only person I know of that it is happening to on a current version of MATE. There are some work arounds but as far as I am aware they don't all work on all systems and I haven't heard of anyone needing to do anything since last year (over 12 months actually).

How did you upgrade?
It is a clean install or did you upgrade from one version to another online?
Is your /home on a seperate partition?
Have you done anything else at all in the previous year to try to fix the issue? If yes, what?

I installed LMDE Mate version on a flash drive and when it booted, it popped up ten instances of the file manager immediately after getting the Desktop. This was a Live CD on a flash. This was the latest version but I believe it only happened once.
