How to start with sendmail?

I am fairly new to Linux but have been enjoying it a lot. I have a domain name which I have set up and I got Apache working now I want to host my own e-mail server. I have been looking at the howto at sendmail.org but it isn't helping much. Where do I start? I am lost! I just need some places that can get me going. Any help would be appreciated.

if you'll just install sendmail and qpop you'll be set... they should default to running on the server...

run % ps -e to get a list of services running after the install

Oreilly would be a good start...

Better than Oreilly would be Postfix:
www.postfix.org
Postfix tries to use your already existing sendmail setup, only it's easier to setup, easier to administer, and is better documented, all IMHO. It's worth a shot...

Cool

If your going to be playing around with sendmail config, you should know how to test your machine to make sure you arent providing an open relay.
There are some instructions here:
