Question How to start properly MySQL in SuSE 8.1?

Hi !

How to start properly MySQL in SuSE 8.1 ?

I´v had problems to start MySQL. I configured it by #chkconfig, #/etc/my.cnf, #insserv -d /etc/init.d/mysql and #rcmysql start.

Now, I can start it with /usr/bin/safe_mysqld -u root & but at boot time. The service can´t start.

Thanks a lot.

Have a look in /etc/sysconfig (could be suseconfig) and look for MYSQL. SuSE used to (up to 7.3) keep the config stuff in /etc/rc.config but it appears that they've moved it again. You'll want to start safe_mysqld.
