How to start POP3?

I just installed RedHat9 to setup a mailserver. netstat -a shows pop3 is listening to port 110 and I can locally do "telnet localhost 110". But I can't telnet to pop3 port from a different machine... it says 'Could not open a connection to host on 100. Connect failed!'

Any ideas please ?

It looks that you have a firewall running. Check its options and unblock pop3 port (but first check if you have proper authorization etc).

Mara.. There is no firewall setup anywhere. Also I checked the linuxconf firewall options which are disabled.

guy, the error messages which you given do not show you do telnet to port pop3, you do telnet to port 100 instead of port 110 (pop3).

are you sure you have do telnet to port 110?
