Question How to start Gnome CD player, under KDE desktop?

I'm pretty sure Gnome is installed, I did a install everything option of Slackware 9.1. I like the KDE interface, but prefer the Gnome CD player.

Looked in my menus and couldnt find any Gnome apps, and ran a search for Gnome in the file finder. I know about the KDE CD player, but it wont work, and I have had good luck in the past with Gnome cd player. And if anyone knows where to find the volume control also :P

Open a console, and type the name of the program you want to open.

Typing gnome-cd opened a Gnome CD program for me.. on Slackware 9.1 full install.

KMix is a volume control app for KDE. If you can't find it in the menus (should be under Multimedia) then just type kmix in the console.

Thanks, found the Gnome CD player, and got the Kmix, is Kmix also going to reset my volune? If i crank up the Gnome Volume, when I reboot, or whatever, and come back the volume is at 0 again.

Also, I did some searching, and in order to get my cd to play, i have to type this into the Konsole

su
chmod a+r /dev/cdrom

I dont know exacty what that means, I know the su, is superusering so I can run that command,
Is there someway to configure so that that chmod is performed automatically, like when the machine is booting, so i dont have to perform the operation each time.
