How to Speed Up Hostapd

Hello everyone,

I have a situation where hostapd startup time is critical. I have several relatively large configuration files and depending on environment I have to switch them out quickly. Currently by eye hostapd can take up to 15 seconds and if I stop and start the daemon often within a short period of time I have potentially hundreds of seconds lost.

So my main question is how can I get hostapd to start up faster? Also, can I switch configuration files on the fly to make it more dynamic and faster. Lastly, what is the most ideal way to get status information on the daemon...log file, named pipe, program, etc?

Thanks in advance.
