How to sort the icons by modification time, permanently, in PCManFM 0.9.8 (LXDE)?

Code:

anisha@linux-trra:~> uname -a && cat /etc/issue
Linux linux-trra 2.6.37.1-1.2-desktop #1 SMP PREEMPT 2011-02-21 10:34:10 +0100 x86_64 x86_64 x86_64 GNU/Linux
Welcome to openSUSE 11.4 "Celadon" - Kernel \r (\l).

Through View -> Sort files, I can set that temporarily.
Edit -> Preferences
only contains setting for Default view, no sorting option.

How to make that setting permanent?

P.S. lxde-common has the version 0.5.0 on my setup.

I switched to SpaceFM awhile ago, but I think it just remembers your preferences. In SpaceFM you can set them in the context menu like so:
Attachment 11531

Since SpaceFM is basically an updated, enhanced version of PCmanFM I assume it would be similar.
BTW - You should consider updating to SpaceFM if you like PCmanFM. Check it out here: http://ignorantguru.github.com/spacefm/

You can also incorporate Bash scripts and create your own GUI commands, it is also nice and plugable.

Hope I was of some help.
