Question How to simply increase .pdf contrast with Ghostscript ?

How can I increase contrast with Ghostscript ?

I searched online but : either the mono option is obsolete, either i'm told to use Imagemagick - which makes my computer buggy. I used to use OCRmyPDF and the --remove-background option but it's deprecated with Leptonica.

I can do greyscale but i'd like a sharper and more readable stuff.

If anyone has it...

Thanks.

Let's start with what Ghostscript version you have, what command(s) you are running, and what is your source document/image? (Are you trying to work with an existing PDF, or are you converting to/from PDF?)

What were the search results that you refer to?

The current Ghostscript documentation has no mention of a "mono" option, but even if it did why do you think this would increase contrast? Is it because you're dealing with scans that have grey backgrounds?

What do you mean that ImageMagick makes your computer buggy? Does it return an error message (if so what is that message, along with the command that causes it), or something else?

Which version of Image Magick are you trying to use? Are you trying this on Slackware? If so, what version of that too?

There are other options for modifying images, either ad-hoc or scripted - Gimp, GraphicsMagick, OpenCv, Pillow are just some of these.
