How to show RSS feeds in Evolution?

Running Evolution 3.18.5.2 on Ubuntu MATE 16.04. Today I installed evolution-rss and set up my newsfeeds in Edit->Preferences->News and Blogs, and when I hit send/receive, it updates the newsfeeds normally. The trouble is it doesn't display them anywhere, or at least I can't figure out how to display them. As before, only my email accounts show up in the side bar, and I see no menu commands enabling me to show RSS feeds. What am I missing?

I really don't like evolution, but I found your question intriguing, as I really do like RSS feeds, so I installed evolution in this here OpenBSD VM. Evolution does not appear to have native RSS support. Do you have some kind of plugin--there are such things--for the RSS and, if so, which one?

(Also, I have to say evolution seems to have improved since the last time I used it. Nevertheless, give me Claws any day of the week and twice on Sunday.)

I decided to pursue this, so I fired up a VM of Ubuntu and installed Evolution. Then I created an email account, using one of my little used email addresses.

I then opened up Synaptic and installed the evolution-rss package. After I restarted Evolution, an icon for News and Blogs appeared in the Edit-->Preferences dialog; a restart was necessary.

I clicked on that item, then clicked the "Add" button in the resulting dialog and pasted in the URL for the RSS feed of a random blog I sometimes read.

Once I added that feed and it populated, a News and Blogs item appeared in the left sidebar underneath the mailboxes. You can see it in this screenshot.

I cannot guess why they feeds might not be visible on your system.

Thanks, frankbell, you helped me figure it out!

I knew I had the most current evolution-rss plugin (0.3.95-4build1), and I'd already tried restarting. But then when I saw your screenshot, I realized that you were using the default "On this Computer" account but I had disabled that back when I first installed Evolution. Instead, I was only showing the two IMAP accounts I ordinarily use. I re-enabled the default account, and sure enough, the News & Blogs were just where they were supposed to be. I thought it was probably something like this ... me looking in the wrong place.

Now I have a new decision to make, however. When I saw your comment about Claws, I also installed it, and I see why you like it. With RSSyl, it, too, is doing exactly what I was looking for. Choices, choices ...

Many thanks!

Glad I could help and thanks for the lowdown on the underlying issue. That may help someone else in the future.
