How to share files using Azureus?

Hi

I recently downloaded Slackware 12.2 using Azureus (a bit torrent client).

I intended to move the isos to my aMule shared folder, since I liked that program better, but I've decided to give Azureus a shot, since aMule is effectively an abandoned project.

Now I can't figure out how to share the isos I downloaded. I shared the files but I'm not seing anyone trying to download them. This is probably because I shared the files on their own, and didn't use the original .torrent file.

So here's my question - how do I start sharing files described by a .torrent file that's not mine?

I could download everything again, but that's a waste and I won't learn anything

Thanks

Doesn't look that abandoned to me. Last update of the www.amule.org is dated 3 december of 2008. And latest stable release is dated 08/08/2008.

You don't share files in the way as you do it in aMule. You have to download *.torrent file or add trackers manually. Bittorrent requires trackers. You also can enable DHT.

Download *.torrent file again. When prompted where to save that, point to the location where you stored already downloaded files. Bittorrent client (not sure about azeurus, but all sane bittorrent clients work this way) will find downloaded files, and will check how much of the file match with contents of torrent. It will find out that file is 100% downloaded, and start seeding it.

Yeah except the latest stable release is broken in french and the release before that will soon be 2 years old. I know they keep fiddling with it, but I have a strong feeling the project is really dead. Maybe they lost someone important, I don't know.
