How to setup Postfix to receive email via POP

Hi,

I have a standard Mandrake 8.2 installation. I have installed postfix and procmail. I have a ADSL connection to the internet and freeparking.co.uk forwarding my MX records. I can receive email originating from my user account on this box using SMTP. But I cannot send it using POP.

One thing I have not been able to find is clear instruction on how set up postfix to send email. I install vm-pop3d as well, I assume it is used by postfix as a POP server? It may be working but it is not clear to me what I need to put into the mail client (I am using Ximian) as the POP Server address, just the hostname (linuxbox.roamware.com) I assumed. But I get an error-

"Could not connect to linuxbox.roamware.com: Port (110): Connection refused"

Can someone point me in the right direction for information on what to do here?

Thanks

David

Unless I mistaken pop us for recieving mail, not sending
smtp is for sending, and the easiest think is just route
outgoiing mail via your providers smtp server.

Another point does you provider give you a static IP?
If not your mail could get lost when you reconnect.

I've got other peoples mail when I was tinkering
with a dail up connection

Sorry got them around the wrong way, I cannot receive mail and it is POP that is the problem. If my MX records are redirected to my Static IP (yes I do have one) I need a POP server to receive them. I don't need anything special like virtual domains.

I just put in "linuxbox.roamware.com" for the POP host, I assumed that the vm-pop3d process would listen on port 110 for the mail client when it connects. But that does not appear to be happening. It may well be that I need to configure something on vm-pop3d, but the help at
http://www.reedmedia.net/software/virtualmail-pop3d talks about virtual domains mostly and does not explain the basic stuff that newbies like me need.
