How to setup postfix/sendmail

I am running SuSe9.1 on my server. I have two Nic's in my box. One is for internal networks and the other one is for Internet. I configured everything and it is working fine. My internal PC's can connect to the server and brows the Internet.

The problem is, I am running Outlook on the internal PC's. I have setup the POP3 accounts and the SMTP account. I can receive mail from my Service Provider - No problem.

But as soon as I send mail I get the error message "relay access denied" Port: 25.

If anyone could help, i would be most gr8full. I think I have to set something somewhere to tell the Linux server that the Pc's sending mail is allowed to relay via the server.

Thanx...

you'd probably feel most comfortable installing webmin to confiure your MTA of choice. you don't learnt nearly as much by not editing the config files, but it's a quick way to get it running.

Indeed, Webmin may make that quite a bit easier. It has a nice interface for setting up Postfix too. Anyway, I had your problem as well. You go to send from your own host, and get some message about being denied access on port 25, OR a failure to HELO properly. Can’t recall exactly, but I believe permit_mynetworks must be the first statement in “Restrictions on sends in HELO commands” If I’m wrong, someone feel free to correct me.

Again, grab Webmin, as Postfix includes all of its help in there by simply clicking on a function. It pops up a little dialog explaining what the function does :)
