How to set up irc on pidgin?

Hi all,

I would like to know how to configure pidgin for irc?
I was able to do so for gtalk and yahoo, but not quite getting it for irc....
I dont know what i need to enter in the account...
Do i need to be a member already or how does it work?
please assist


PS:I would really appreciate if you could describe with an eg

You don't need to be a member already. Did you ever use the irc?
Here you can find the answers to your questions about irc:
How to configure pidgin:
go to: Accounts>Basic (tag)
At Protocol: IRC
At Screen name: your_nickname
At Server: (e.g.
At Password: password
press the OK button and you're done.
