How to set Opera Mail (M2) as Default Mail Program in Fedora 10

Hi,
I recently changed from Mozilla to Opera for everyday browsing because it has a much faster cold loading time. I use the integrated mail program (Opera M2) to connect to my Gmail account which worked well with almost no hassle. I am trying to set M2 as my default mail program and thus link it to the "mail notification" panel applet. In System/Preferences/Personal/Panel/Preferred Applications, Opera Mail is not listed. I have tried calling it with it's terminal command (opera -remote "openM2()") but although this works when typed directly into the terminal, it doesn't to call Opera Mail as the default mail application. Anybody have any ideas?

P.S. One drawback of M2 is that it only supports .adr contact lists for import. To overcome this, I found this little web utility very useful: http://www.hallvord.com/opera/conversion1.htm . It converts outlook or Gmail csv contact lists into Opera's .adr format.

Shell Script

I made a little shell script that looks like this:

#!/bin/bash
opera -remote "openM2()"

I saved it with the .sh extension and made it executabe (chmod a+x filename). I set this script as the default mail program. When opera is already open it calls up the M2. If opera is closed it just opens opera without calling up m2.
Anybody know how I could alter this shell script to firstly open opera and then execute the remote command to call up M2?
