How to save mail on separate partition
One thing i often end up doing is complete reinstallations of my distro.
I hate to loose my:

bookmarks for opera web browser
my mail: addressbook, filters, folders

I have tried solving this by having /home on a separate partition but i often screw up programs i add and need to wipe /home too.

So, I want to save my kmail and opera data on a separate partition of my fedora core 2 installation.

I tried this already. I manually configured an extra partition for it inside my /home/username/ but that installation didnt allow me to log in with a gui for more than half a second. (I could log in with a failsafe session).

So, how do i get this data somewhere safe? I left space on the hard drive so that i could add another partition.

Maybe it should be formatted as a vfat coz then (?) i could also send the data over to my windows box to back it up.

I hope to hear from you! :)

If their stored in a particular directory in your users home directory, just move them to another partition that you have available and then create symlinks from your home directory to the new directory.

man ln
