how to safely upgrade perl?

I'm running Mandrake 9.1 as a web & mail server with different applications dependent of perl.

My problem is, tak i've already compiled new perl tvice and now I have prl5.8.0, 1 & 2 installed and I hope different apps use different perl versions...

How do I make sure, that I Install new perl with every module that any of those applications needs, so then I can get rid of the old versions?

Thanks very much, Matej
