how to run BOOTP client from FC4
hi,
I want my linux pc should get IP address from BOOTP server. But I didn't find any command for that. can any body help how to run a BOOTP client from my PC. regards, chiranjib |
asaik bootp servers provide the ip addresses using a dhcp service... so perhaps you might want to look for a dhcp client such as dhcpcd or dhclient

RE:how to run BOOTP client from FC4
Nathanael,
That thing i want make sure that there is no separate command for BOOTP. But what I found that there is some command called bootpc but it is not working in FC4  . dhclient or dhcpcd will give the ip address but then how to differentiate between DHCP and BOOTP. regards, chiranjib |
googleing for bootp got me to the following:
bootpc is the client for bootp servers, yet dhcp is based on bootp but more complex, yet commonly offers bootp capabilities. how are you using bootpc and what it's the output you get when using that command? |
Nathanael,
bootpc command is not working in my FC4 Linux. I really don't know how to work with bootpc. #bootpc -bash: bootpc: command not found regards, chiranjib |
