how to rip/burn tracks as they are on the album without doing a direct cd to cd-r cp?

hi. when i burn a copy of a cd i like to have it be exactly like the album because i get used to what tracks i like by numbers and relations to others. Is there a way to rip it or burn it that keeps track of how the cd should be laid out when burning? fo example can k3b match a directory to the cd information in the database, cddb i think it is called, to make sure the tracks get positioned correctly?it's someone tedious to look at the back of the jewelcase to make sure each track is in place when making the cd. I have a dvd drive as well for making exact copies but it has given me problems and is not reliable so i would prefer not to do it that way. Plus i usually like the files on my computer anyways and may not make the copy for the car right at the moment. thanks for any replies in advance.

Most rippers will call the tracks "track01.wav" etc in the order they come on the CD. The name carries over into mp3 and ogg encondings of the same.

Your trouble is that you have K3B to look up the track details in a database as they are being ripped. Your computer then alphabetizes the tracks.

I use Sound Juicer in FC4. This is set up be default to add a track number at the start of each track name ... "01 songtitle.wav" etc. This way they stay in order and I just do cdrecord *.wav from inside the album directory to burn the tracks in order.

Presumably K3B has some method of prefixing a track name too. (Though I suppose you can always write a script to re-sort the tracks by their "last modified" time ... this should stick them in order for you.)
