i have a few questions cuz i don't quite u.nderstand your post completely
1. Did this freespace have a filesystem on it?
2. What is the name of the partition of the free space?
3. Did you add it to fc3 by adding a line to /etc/fstab?
4. What are you using to see if the space is added to fc3?

actually i had 4 system on my comp. XP, Fedora, Mandrake & Suse..
I don't wish to had mandrake any more so i booted suse and deleated swap & main partition of mandrake
and formated it to ext3 again . Then i resized thefedora file system to increase its capacity....
Then i restarted the computer & booted fedora there i found no increment in size of its root partition
That was the whole story
if u want further details I can post that also
thanx
