How to remove KWallet (KDE Wallet System) in Debian?

Hello,

I installed KDE to burn, but I got installed a software that I do not want nor need: kwallet.

However, dpkg -l | grep wallet returns nothing.

How to remove KWallet (KDE Wallet System) in Debian?

Best regards

Location: Earth? I would say I hope so but I'm not so sure about that... I could just be a figment of your imagination too.
Distribution: Currently OpenMandriva. Previously openSUSE, PCLinuxOS, CentOS, among others over the years.

I'm not sure you can uninstall "kwallet" as such, but you can disable it. It would help to know what version of KDE you are referring to? (eg. KDE 4, 5)

To disable it in KDE 4;

KDE System Settings > Account Details > KDE Wallet > Untick the box next to "Enable the KDE wallet subsystem"

It would still be a similar process in KDE 5, to disable it.

I did the mistake to do : apt-get install k3b

there is not really kde installed, just k3b... so no menu

Create a ~/.config/kwalletrc file if you don't already and make sure the "wallet" line for Enabled is in it (not sure if any of the rest is important):

Code:
[Migration]
alreadyMigrated=true

[Wallet]
Close When Idle=false
Close on Screensaver=false
Default Wallet=kdewallet
Enabled=false
First Use=false
Idle Timeout=10
Launch Manager=false
Leave Manager Open=false
Leave Open=true
Prompt on Open=false
Use One Wallet=true
I do DESPISE kwallet I admit. Big fan of plasma otherwise, but hate kwallet with the heat of a thousand supernovas.

Me too.

I use KeepassX.

I despise all these "wallets" that are tied to various desktop environments. They are the worst nagware in the Linux world.

Just complete kwallet when it asks, leave password blank and you won't hear from it again.

Yes. It will still store passwords, which could be a security issue for you, but on the plus side it would do its job without bothering you.
