how to recompile a installed program(mplayer)

I have a problem I need to recompile Mplayer/mencode to disable cpu detection

CPU: Intel Pentium 4/Xeon/Celeron Foster 3108 MHz (Family: 8, Stepping: 7)
Detected cache-line size is 64 bytes
CPUflags: Type: 8 MMX: 1 MMX2: 1 3DNow: 0 3DNow2: 0 SSE: 1 SSE2: 1
Compiled with runtime CPU detection - WARNING - this is not optimal!
To get best performance, recompile MPlayer with --disable-runtime-cpudetection.

Can I do this to the existing mdk10.1 mplayer program ,,can i install the newest plf rpms(I have) and do it then or ,will I have to compile it my self (I can do this if really necessary)

If I can recompile the existing installation please tell me how
thanks
Erik

Recompiling usually includes compiling from source. So you will probably have to compile from source, to disable runtime cpudetection

Download the source from http://mplayerhq.hu then un-tar/gzip it. Go into the newly created directory and run configure with these options:
./configure --disable-runtime-cpudetection --enable-gui
Then just run make && make isntall
