how to rebuild initrd-2.6.18-92.el5.img

Good day. I have a hypothetical question:

If I removed /boot/initrd-2.6.18-92.el5.img
when I am booting to CentOS and then shutdown, how do I
reboot CentOS again ? Is it possible to recover the necessary
*.img using the original installation DVD.
How to do that? (i know the key is mkinitrd but I don't know the exact
steps and I don't want to wreck my system).

Thanks!

- Boot from the cd
- type 'linux rescue' at the prompt
- ignore networking setup
- allow search for installation
- chroot /mnt/sysimage
- mkinitrd /boot/initrd-2.6.18-92.el5.img 2.6.18-92.el5
- exit
- reboot

( from memory but should work ok.. )

Thanks a lot kbp!
I have done one full successful test on my laptop.

Once my another system is idling, I will give it a try on the clone system ( I was trying to do something mentioned in
http://www.linuxquestions.org/questi...05#post4086605)

Thanks again!
