how to ramove an installed package software???

i was installing ettercap and for that i needed libpcap>=0.8.1...but by mistake i installed 0.7.1
then i installed 0.8.1 too
but ettercap during configuration is givin me a msg that libpcap ver 0.8.1 or greater required??
wht shud i do??
is previously installed earlier ver of libpcap is causing prblm??

what distribution are you using and are you talking about packages supplied by your distro or tar balls or a mixture ?

i'm using mandriva....nd i downloaded tar balls frm sourceforge.net

For a tarball go into the directory you did make install at and do 'make uninstall'.
