Question how to provide link from GPS receiver data to google maps?


Hi this is srikanth, hey sorry about my bad english. i am newbie of GPS devices/Modems. recently i bought one GPS receiver, from that receiver i am able to get the information in the format of $gpggl,"........Valid data....." serially.
Now i want to use that data,and show it's corresponding google maps on my PC based on the gps receiver data.

i am using ubuntu 10.4 version,so kindly help me How i will do? my idea is correct or not? how i will approach to achieve that one?

Don't worry about the language, we will get it sorted out. :-) It has been a while since I played with gps but I believe that all you have to do is save the NMEA data into a text file with a .nmea extension and then import the file into GoogleEarth. This requires version 5.2 or above.

Thank you very much for such valuable idea. after try this i will contact you.

I have another problem in technical side, i hope u will solve this another problem again. i.e i2c(inter integrated circuit) eeprom program in linux C. i don't know how to start and how to write C code for i2c in linux? so please help this problem also.

I have no ideas pertaining to your second post. You should start another thread in a more appropriate section of the forum, perhaps Hardware or Programming to get better coverage.
