How to print jpeg from Gimp 1.3

I am having serious problems printing a jpeg that I just worked on using Gimp 1.3. It asks that I flatten which I did and it also asks that I export which I did. Still the problem persists! Help! This is for a school assignment due Monday.

FYI this is my first time using Gimp. My other issue was with changing font color. I was only able to use black (default) and divide and grainy.... to get different shades of white. Suggestions will be greatly appreciated.

file -> print
select the printer in the "printer name" dropdown window (if you configured it with yast, it should show up) ... press the print button

Is there any error output?

If everything else fails... print to .ps and print the .ps from Ghostview. I think I had the same problem last week.
