how to play dat files
 
How can i play dat file in Linux..Also I am denying access to my root folder how can i access it to install some packages..

1: What's a 'dat' file?

2: Look at all the "similar threads" at the bottom of this page (hint, this forum has a search function).

3: Try "file filename.dat" to discover what kind of file it really is.

4: What do you mean when you say you're denying access to root? More info, please.

Wild guess at #1. Is it a vcd issue as described here?

vcds should be played back directly, not mounted. What media player are you using and what distribution/version? Maybe the problem is with your basic multimedia playback.

Agree with previous poster, much more info needed.

i think MPLAYER is the best thing,,.

its a freeware, just download and use it...
