How to open in Firefox?

Occasionally I will get some text file that causes Firefox to prompt me to download or open in some program. Instead, I want Firefox to display the file (it is a text file). How can this be done ... or why did they leave that ability out?

Example: http://connie.slackware.com/~alien/t...are-current.sh

How do other browsers behave on the same link?

What does your firefox do on a different text file link, like http://wordpress.org/extend/plugins/about/readme.txt ?

(First search result for "readme.txt")

It could be a server-side misconfiguration.

Firefox opens text files only if the remote server sends them with the type text/plain specification. You can easily verify it opening a remote text file (e.g. http://download.opensuse.org/distrib...epo/oss/README) and clicking on Tools -> Page Info (see attachment). Otherwise you can try the Open in Browser add-on to manage unspecified types. Hope this helps.

That kind of thing should not need to be an add-on. It should be in the browser itself. It would require very little logic in the browser to just force a specific file type when the server fails to send the correct one. "Open as text" and "Open as HTML" and maybe a few others should always be there as options.
