How to mount a new hard drive in qemu

I want to run the qemu image from a CD and mount the hard drive in the VM. How will I do it? Is there a way to access a single image file by multiple users? For example, I will place the image file in a server and everyone can access the image file as snapshot. All their files can be saved on the mounted hard drive.
