Question How to make a picture around tty1?

In various distributions (eg. Backtrack [Live], Superb Mini Server, etc..) you can see a kind of "frame" around tty1.
Does someone here know how to do this?

For this I want to use a system matching LinuxFromScratch 7.2.

Thank you!

That "picture" is a terminal emulator frame displayed by X-Windows; i.e., X needs to be running and you need to launch a terminal emulator from whatever window manager you're using -- KDE, GNOME, Xfce, etc.

So, is X running or do you have a black screen with a system prompt (and you can hit the Enter key and get another system prompt)?

Have you checked your system documentation about starting X and using X?

Hope this helps some.

No, X isn't Running.
If you Start backtrack 5r3 from DVD you get this frame too. But X is not Running...

Well, if X isn't running, you ain't got and you ain't ever gonna get no "picture frame."

So, check your documentation and find out how to start X running.

When you Boot backtrack, it won't start x automaticcally. It will boot into tty1 (only on DVD boot) and there is the frame.

Here's a picture of it running in a vm:

I don't know.
One guess would be that they are loading an immage full screen in framebuffer

And then putting the shell in a smaller resolution in the middle.

Yay

This seems to be the solution for my problem.
Unfortunately I can't find any "how to" or something that helps me to do this at my system.

Can you tell me how I can do this on my own?
