leach protocol installation error in ns 2.34
 
hello all
i am installing leach protocol in ns 2.34

but i got some error.

can't read "env(RCA_LIBRARY)": no such variable
while executing

i have read all of the comments by deepa and heloys...
n tried all the steps by deepa.....
but i have a doubt at post no. 75

"i think there was something else i did ... check the tcl-object.tcl file. I remember i followed instructions from there.

You need to set the variables in \tcl\lib\ns-default.tcl"

please explain me where i have to change in file ns-default.tcl....
because all the variables are already set into ns-deafault.tcl

i really need ur help kindly reply me..

in leach.out there is a line saying max distance for this simulation is 130

1.can u plz tel me whats this max distance and where it is calculated.

2. also when i change nn to 50 there is 0 data transmission.. in both cases i.e. (100*100)grid or (50*50) grid for the BS positon 50,175

then i changed BS position to 25,75 for 50*50 grid . and now m getting data for this..
3. my issue is why 100 nodes transmitting data in 50* 50 grid y not 50 nodes transmitting while I have not changed BS position.

is it something related to max-distance...

kindly reply me as soon as possible

@ engr (#392)

1. From what i remember, max distance is calcualted in the scenario file (the file that contains the position of the nodes in your network).Search for the max distance variable in the entire folder. You should get the file that shows how it is calculated.

2. I think it is because the node to BS distance is too large for transmissions to be successfully sent to the BS. Try running your simulations a couple of times and observe the results.

@ Deepa.. thnx alot for your reply.. can u tell me how can i search entire folder.. any command?
i tried to check manually all the files related to leach i didnt get any calculation parameters in any of the file.. :(

can u tel me for what is spreading factor?

For your error, please refer to the posts early on in this thread. This error and its solution has already been discussed.

The steps i mentioned in #75 are to remove warnings. Please search the ns-default.tcl file. You'll get the location where the variables have been initialised. Add variables which have not been defined at that location.

Please use g++ version 4.1.2 .

And : If you want to use a g++-4.3 or g++-4.1 :
The package must be installed. Once this is done you can use the command.

Please tell which Ubuntu version you are using.
And if your OS is `i686` or `x86_64` ( $ uname -m ).

* Note : ns2 is for i686.

There should be a command in your system by which you can search ... in Windows, its the "Search Programs and Files" option.
Please read all the documentation, esp, the LEACH thesis by Heinzelman. It clearly explains the spreading factor.

Have you made all the changes (discussed in this forum, as well as on http://ns2.blogspot.ca/ and other sources) to the code ?

If you have, then please start debugging ... put a command in the receive function to see what all packets have been received by the nodes. You might have to put the statements in the C++ code rather than tcl.

Spreading factor is multiplicative factor increases the data length and thereby the
energy required to transmit it.
Scoeff: a coefficient of spreading. Proper selection of
Scoeff, for enough number of cluster codes to be made
available, is required to minimize the inter cluster interference
during data gathering process.

1- when i implemented Leach i count the number of cluster heads in leach.out but the number was more than 5 nodes although i put k=5.
2-

i think that dist is the distance between the sensor node and the cluster head. but in case of cluster head node how is dist=139 ??
