Angry How to install WINE using git?

Well, I wanted to install Adobe CS4 on my Ubuntu Karmic machine but I had to install some sort of patch on WINE in order for me to install. From there I deleted my current WINE installation per the winehq website.. So I followed the directions to download and install 'git' but they didn't tell me how to install WINE using 'git.' I downloaded a graphical front-end for 'git,' and this has confused me beyond reason. It lists literally ALL of the possible WINE installs but when I try to cd into the 'wine-git' folder to ./configure WINE, it brings up that WINE can't do something with X and preceding that a lot of "checking [something] ... no" repeatedly.

I am really confused?!

I just want to be able to download and install WINE version 1.1.14, install Microsoft Office, upgrade to version 1.1.17 without losing Microsoft Office, then patch 1.1.17 so I can install Adobe CS4! I know Office installs and works perfectly...winehq appdb says Adobe will run too if I apply this patch...

I know that sounds like a mouthful but I didn't think it would consume the better part of my week to figure this out! Please help...this is so frustrating

You are missing some dependencies for the compilation. The output of ./configure is telling you which. Please post the output of ./configure.
