How to install Webserver on RH 7.2 "workstation" ?

Hello there,

Well I have found a new desire ... to install web server on my desktop :-)

I am using a PIII 600MHz PC with Linux RH 7.2 and have actually installed it as a Workstation. Now I want to know if it is possible to install a webserver (of course Apache) and can I then run my PC as an Internet server as a static server to serve my homepage (consisting of simple html files) ?

Do I need to install any Firewall as well ?

Assume I am totally new to all this stuff, so please advise me the simple ways to proceed !

Last but not least, is Apache absolutely free for personal use and is there any free firewall as well available ?

Many thanks & kind regards,
Salman Zafar

you don't *need* a firewall, but you might be advised to use one. i don't however, and have had no problems security wise, other than my stupidity.

just install the apache rpms from the rh72 disk, and read the documentiation. when i installed apache default on rh71 i didn't have to set up a single thing, just enable httpd in xinetd.
