how to install tripwire?

i just downloaded tripwire 2.3.1-2 from tripwire.com. untarred it and did as in INSTALL a gmake release.

unfortunately, i continued reading, searched section 3 - but its not there!

so, i tried myself going into ./install doing ./install.sh. see output

/usr/lib/sendmail exists. Continuing installation.

/bin/vi exists. Continuing installation.

Verifying existence of binaries...

./bin/i686-pc-linux_r/siggen missing. Build did not complete successfully.

did i miss something after the gmake release?
