Question how to install spice3

Spice3 is an circuit simulator from berkeley university. I will use spice to do simulation work and I have got spice3f4 and spice3f5.
But I don't know how to build and compile them. I am not familiar with Linux
system. My linux is redhat9. Can anyone give me a detailed instruction?

I have the answer

I found there are some bug in the source code I download before. You can try spice3f5sfix. It is easy to install it under the instruction. You can find the source code with google. Good luck.

pre-compiled with distro's ok?

I want to use spice3. I noticed it came with the suse9.1 pro dist and installed it. There are some very simple examples listed that it balks on and I was wondering if anyone has any experience with the pre-compiled ones out there. Have the problems been just getting it to compile or does it compile but have bugs.

Unhappy rebuilt spice - still get problems

Dowloaded spice3f5sfix from sunsite.edu and it compiled fine (I had to fix a link to libtermcap but other than that it built fine).

When I tried running it, I get the same problems - seem to be related to parsing the input.

I tried one of the examples from the spice3 home page at Berkeley:

SIMPLE DIFFERENTIAL PAIR
VCC 7 0 12
VEE 8 0 -12
VIN 1 0 AC 1
RS1 1 2 1K
RS2 6 0 1K
Q1 3 2 4 MOD1
Q2 5 6 4 MOD1
RC1 7 3 10K
RC2 7 5 10K
RE 4 8 10K
.MODEL MOD1 NPN BF=50 VAF=50 IS=1.E-12 RB=100 CJC=.5PF TF=.6NS
.TF V(5) VIN
.AC DEC 10 1 100MEG
.END

I get the same problem: it doesn't know what to do with the 'ac' keyword on 4th line.

Not sure what to do now.

I am running 2.6 kernel (suse9.1 - 32 bit) on athlon64.

problem in installing spice3f5sfix

hi

i am using this spice3f5sfix but it does not work

i get an error about not finding a -ltermcap

the only thing i change at the installation files is the conf/linux in order to put the directory of the spice into a folder of my own since i am not an admin

the question is to anyone that has installed it correctly:

had you changed anything when you installed the spiec3f5sfix?

(i am using suse 9.2)

thank you very much in advance

be well

yours,
antonios

Hi,
Your problem is that your system doesnt have the library termcap installed. I had the same problem too. This means you have to find it and install it. Since you are not admin you will have to ask him to do it for you. Start from here:

http://www.google.com.br/search?hl=p...mcap+rpm&meta=

If you cant solve it w/ this tip please let me know.

thanks

thank you leosgb

i will try this first thing tomorrow since the administrator is not here to help right now
but i would like to add another question

if i use cygwin i can add whatever libraries i want (even this termcap)

so if i do all these to cygwin and run like in linux it will work?
i mean if i run ./util/build linux
it will work?
or i need to put extra flags because it is cygwin (i have seen same flags like -mno-cygwin or -cygnus but i do not know exactly what they do)

thank you very much for your help leosgb
and thank you all in advance

be well

antonios
