How to install projectm on gentoo?

Hi,
I want to install projectm, this is in the portage so I thought it'd be easy but I can't figure it out ;p

what I did:

I unmasked & installed libvisual-projectm & libprojectm
Code:
emerge libvisual-projectm
this installs libprojectm as a depency, there were no errors (that I've seen)

So now, how do I open it?
It doesn't appear with the visualisation-plugins in audacious though..

Can someone please help me? I'd like to be served some milkdrop!

You mean this:
http://projectm.sourceforge.net/
... looks like a replacement for what a goom to me

You have it installed... what you need is to get audacious to use it as a visualization.
According to the wiki:
Quote:
libvisual-projectM supports libvisual 0.4. This means is that it can be used as a regular visualization plugin within music players such as Amarok.
So it acts like a regular plugin... if audacious was compiled to use libvisual, and you are using pulse-audio, it should be there...

Googling "audacious projectm gentoo" shows some bugs, and repeated reference to the audacious plugins package... seems there is a special package for this. eg.

Quote:
projectM support via libvisual will be in an upcoming release of audacious-plugins
Gentoo Forums c. 2006

So it would appear you need to emerge the audacious pugins. (Or install amarok...)
