It's not urgent for anyone but you...do not flag things as "urgent".

Second, you don't say what kind of 'Linux machine' you have. What version/distro? What version of Oracle?

Read the documentation that comes with the Oracle software, check the Oracle knowledgebase, or CALL ORACLE, since you've paid for support. Oracle's docs have always been good and complete...did you read them?

I am having RHE2.6 -Linux
I want to install Oracle 10g.

I got struck in a project so need to install oracle on Linux and I am new to Linux. So need your help.

Read the previous post, especially the part about READING THE DOCUMENTATION SUPPLIED BY ORACLE, THAT YOU ALREADY HAVE.

Follow those instructions. If you have specific problems with any of the steps, you can post specific questions, or call Oracle. Since you pay for support, use it. Also, RHE2.6 is VERY old....you may not be able to get the 10g running on it at all.

I've done this a couple of times. I can't tell you the steps from memory because it's been a while. What I recall is: (1) Go to the Oracle website, (2) Download the free client software, (3) Install it per directions obtained on the Oracle site, (4) Create an oranames.tns file defining how to access each target database, (5) Obtain login/password details for each database you want to access, (6) Optional - build the PERL DBD::Oracle module per instructions that come with that module. IIRC the entire process took less than fifteen minutes, with the PERL build taking the longest.

If you don't know Linux, you might get caught up in some of the non-Oracle related details. Like creating a directory, adding a userid, su'ing to root, editing the tnsnames.ora file, etc. That's all basic stuff.
