Hi to all! I've downloaded the Java runtime and installed it on my Redhat 7.1, I tried to install the plugin but I seem to have totally trashed my system (it locked up and trashed everything... had to reinstall RH 7.1 in frustration).

Can anybody give some guidance on this matter? I'd really appreciate it... the installation instructions at the java.com site seem to expect a someone who is familiar with the process... I would be the exact opposite... new to linux and totally new to the installation process for the plugin...

RH71 has ballsed up Java, and won't work unless... (drumroll)...

you set LD_ASSUME_KERNEL=2.2.5
in /etc/rc.local or such
