How to install GNOME 2.4

I just re-install my slackware, I haven't installed any X, and I can't install Dropline Gnome now since there is some problems with its server.
So I want to install GNOME 2.4, however, when I want to download GNOME2.4, I find that it does not have a install script, all are the tar ball files, so how can I install it?

Thanks for help.

...and so far you won't find any repositoties proposing it.
Maybe a bit too early.

Not so far ago I used only Gnome as well but due to scratched files and too slipped situation I moved to KDE 3.1 ...nothing special to say on it... and upgraded to 3.2 version (rpm !!!)
...Nothing else to say than : "PARADISE"

Give it a try !
