Question How do I install firebug?

Hi everybody,
I have downloaded a .tar file with the firebug extension for firefox.
I can't access the internet in my laptop so I have downloaded the .tar file from another computer and I have copied it to the laptop.
How do I install this extension? I have unpacked the tar file into a folder but I don't know what to do with the unpacked files.
I know that if I were downloading firebug with my laptop it would automatically add it to firefox but there must be a way to do it with the firebug.tar file.

Thank you very much!!

I'm new and could be wrong, but if you want to install Firebug for Firefox or any other extension, just go to tools, and click on "ADD-ons". This will take you to the Firefox web site where you can search for Firebug and click on install. It will be installed into firefox. You don't have to mess with a "Tar" file at all.

Thanks for the reply Lola, but my problem is that I can't access the internet from the laptop and that's why I need the .tar file, because without internet connection I guess that the program needs to be installed manually.
Any other ideas?
Thank you anyway!
