OK first off there is no major version of Ubuntu with number 9.0.1. The latest is 9.10 Karmic Koala the 9.10 tells you that it was released in October of 2009.

And now to you problem. A quick Google search pulled up this Ubuntu Document on getting the driver to work. you need to use the shell but its a reasonably simple job.

The problem comes from a broken open source driver for your card called mrv8k. you need to disable it and then create a ndis wrapper for the windows driver and use that. All this is written in the above link. You also don't say if your using the 32 or 64bit version of Ubuntu this makes a difference to which windows driver you need to use this is commented on in the above link but worth looking out for.

I assume that means you have to install ndiswrapper.......It should be available using your package manager.

You will need to hook up to a wired (Ethernet) connection until you get wireless working.

To install the ndiswrapper you do need an Internet connection. However since the wget command worked I assume you have alternative Internet access on the machine. This being the case you can install ndiswrapper from the desktop using synaptic package manager or from the command line using apt-get or aptitude.

To install via aptitude use the command.

Code:
sudo aptitude install ndiswrapper-common ndiswrapper-module-1.9 ndiswrapper-utils-1.9
You may need to activate the universe and/or multiverse repositorys. you can do this by editing etc/apt/sources.list or by using the software sources program in System>Administration. I would suggest the latter as it will keep the source.list file well commented.
