How to install Adobe Flash on 64 bit CentOS?
 

hello,
i downloaded adobe flash rpm (x86), and installed it using rpm -Uivh command. But the firefox still tells me there is no flash - for instance on Youtube.
i even did a 'yum install flash' which downloaded a few packages but in the end told there there is 'nothing to do'. i suspect this may be because the 32 bit version is not compatible with 64 bit CentOS i am running. so, is there a compatible version of flash available?. i couldn't find one on adobe website.

You will need:
1. a kernel with 64 and 32-bit interfaces
2. 32-bit libraries (a pretty long list of them)
3. 32-bit firefox

See if 'google' can help you find instructions on installing a set of 32-bit libraries within your 64-bit system.

Adobe Flash isn't 64-bit; who knows when Adobe will make a 64-bit version. Maybe they will now that there's a 64-bit VisDuh - if anyone ever goes for VisDuh.

If you're viewing older Flash files (I think to version 7) you can use 'gnash', which is the GNU flash player. Later Flash specifications have been made secret again, so Gnash cannot support later versions.

There is not a 64bit version of Flash (so far). You have two choices.(You can do it without install 32bit FF).

1. You have to install nspluginwrapper. It is basically an 32-64bit translator for flash.

2.The other alternative is to install 32bit FF.
