How to get spellchecker working in Openoffice?

Using Debian Squeeze
Openoffice 3

I can't get the spellchecker working. I have hunspell checked in tools > options > language settings > writing aids. I have hunspell, libhunspell-1.2-0,hunspell-en-ca installed. I tried to install hunspell-en-us, but it was conflicting with myspell.

Is there some other packages I need to install or another program that is installed for squeeze to use for spellchecking?

Thanks

You need java if you don't have it. Also, consider moving from OpenOracleOffice to LibreOffice.

I have Java installed. I wrote a new document today and the spellchecker worked, but it doesn't work on documents I made a few days ago; it doesn't pick out the mistakes. If I copy and paste into a new document the spellchecker will work on it. A bit tedious. What would be the reason for this?

I'll take a look at LibreOffice. Is it similar to OpenOffice?

Thanks

Don't know what might be causing that ... maybe you should check to
see what is different between the files?
