How to get rid of interlaced rending in Blender

I am rendering animations in Blender and am baffled that I cannot deactivate the interlace in the anims. Interlace is for me over since I had a CRT TV. I don't see the need for this ugly tearing look and can afford the space and performance for full frame rending. Where can I switch off interlace in Blender once and for all?

Hmm, not sure if this is something you can fix inside blender.

How are you getting your video / clip output? Direct from Blender into .mpg / .avi?

What you might try is to have blender render to files, and then use MPlayer with its excellent MEncoder package to encode the frames one by one into a video file that can have any parameter setup you might want.

For example:

#Encode all .JPEG files in directory to DivX5 AVI at 25 fps using mplayer's encoder
mencoder \*.jpg -mf on:fps=25 -o output.avi -ovc lavc -ffourcc DX50 -lavcopts vcodec=mpeg4:vhq:v4mv polar_divx_35_fps_libav.avi

MPlayer support external renderer, many of them will give clearer picture, but I never tried with animation. You may try!
