How to get phpPgAdmin working

I almost feel embarrased to ask this, but how do I fire up phpPgAdmin? I have PostgreSQL running, I have Apache (httpd) running. I navigate to file:///usr/share/phpPgAdmin expecting the browser to 'run' index.php, but all I get is a list of the files in that directory. Clicking on index.php just opens a dialog asking if I want to open it in the Bluefish editor!

What the heck am I doing wrong? [Sound of banging head against keyboard ...]

Navigating to it within the filesystem will only show you the files, as you have seen.

To have it work as a PHP web application you must do at least the following...

Code:
* It must be installed within a directory under a configured Apache host
* Apache must be configured to recognize PHP files and pass them to the PHP processor
* You must access it via HTTP request so that Apache will in fact serve it
The location and configuration required will depend on your distro, so providing that explicitly would help you get the right responses. On most distros I would expect Apache to recognize PHP by default, but some may not.

Then to access it, you will use either the host name, localhost or the IP address, followed by the web server path to the index.php file in phpPGadmin.

A quick search found this Fedora Apache HTTP Server page which should include everything other than the phppgadmin setup itself.

Hope this helps!

Perfectly, thank you! I made a symbolic link (named phppgadmin) to the phpPgAdmin directory, under /var/www/html. I then browsed to "http://localhost/phppgadmin" and - Presto! - I had phpPgAdmin inn front of me. I am going into this detail for the benefit of others following in my footsteps.

Many, many thanks for the prompt and helpful reply!
