how to get data off in rescue mode
looking to rescue some data before blowing away my server. can tar files in rescue mode but how do i get them off the server. I also have MYSQL database is there a way to extract that data in rescue mode.

Are you able to activate your network service ?
You can transfer them off the server using the network.

If you want to dump all the databases to a text file, use the mysqldump command.
There are many options, so take a look at the MAN page.

mysqldump --all-databases > databases.sql

OK got ftp going...question how can you dump the dtabases if they are not up and running. Im in rescue mode.

If I remember correctly, you do not need to have the mySQL server running.
Try using mysqldump command.
If it does not work, you can always start the mySQLd service.

when i try mysqldump i get .....cant connect to local MYSQL server

when i try mysqld i get .....fatal error cant find message file
