how to get back my Fedora 7 system like when the day I have installed.
 

I am using Fedora 7, I have installed it two years before, in the last two years I have installed so many packages and now the system getting very slow.

So, how to get back my Fedora system software settings like when the day I have installed.

I cannot really see how having a lot of packages installed should slow down a system, however I guess it's possible, and it seems to be the case on your system.

While I'm not a Fedora user, here's a couple ideas:

1) The most obvious and simplest solution would be to just wipe the installation (with the exception of your personal files in your /home) and do a fresh install.

2) On my Slackware system, using the 'slackpkg' package manager, there is an option called something like 'slackpkg clean-system' which removes all packages that are not part of the distributed software tree and leaves only the stuff that comes with the distro. Look into your package manager (the help files or man page) and see if there is an option similar to this, if you would rather not re-install fresh. Note that this may or may not revert system configuration files, so if the cause of slowness is an aggregate of various contradicting configuration settings, you may wish to refer back to 1) above.

3) Maybe it's time to consider an upgrade to a newer Fedora? I believe there are at least *several* Fedora releases since 7, and since you want a fresh start, this looks like a nice option.

Again, I'm not Fedora user, but I feel that these options are not distro-specific.
