How to get an ICQ UIN on linux?
Tried several ICQ clients for Linux and none of them support registering a new UIN, or those that do fail in attempting to do so.
I also tried installing ICQ, and even a very old version of ICQLite (under crossover, wine, and even cedega!) They all crash, with debugmsgs.
[EDIT] I've now tried ICQ98a, the installer works. Problem is, when I load the client, I can just start to see wine draw the userlist window when it crashes and I get debug output.
[EDIT] Installed icq102b (the earliest client for ICQ I can find on the net) and installed fine, but when registering a new UIN it says can't find connection to the net. Agh! (Other crossover apps get to the net fine; probably they changed the address to the ICQ registration servers, since this time)
Any ways to get a new UIN?
Regards,

Wow, cool! Thanks. Didn't know they went to a register form type of registration. That's definitely better for compatability among systems.
Thanks again!

You are welcome jon_k!. Though, I really think that ICQ made that registration page _after_ they've released their " ICQ2Go", a Web-based ICQ client, ratter then thinking about other platforms. I mean, ICQ is a bulky, full of ads application. They must hate alternatives to their clients such as Trillian or Gaim, that's for sure . However, it surelly made easy to register without having a real ICQ. Turns out for the best (for us) with bad intentions (from ICQ)...ghehe.
