This was one of my wishes when I was first starting out customizing my desktop. What you want to do is download eterm. Then you can look through the man pages or search here on LQ for my post back in March or April where I posted how to make it look all cool and transparent.
The basics are to launch from a terminal
eterm -options
where the options tell it to be transparent, have no scroll bars, etc
