how to fix the perl bugs
I use redhat8 + openwebmail ,but the openwebmail doesn't work
I heard that the perl-5.8 in redhat 8 had a bug , so it couldn't run
.
when I run the script like that : www.xinry.com/cgi-bin/openwebmail/openwebmail.pl
the IE told me that Server error:
Premature end of script headers: /var/www/cgi-bin/openwebmail/openwebmail.pl
so I want to fix the perl bug, but I don't find the fix file, an I don't know how to do it.
Could I un-install the perl5.8 an install a lower vision perl in redhat 7.2
please help me thanks a lot

This does not sound like a bug with Perl, but a problem with the script. Try running the script from a command prompt and verify that there is at least one blank line between the http headers and the actual html content.

Ok, according to that doc you must upgrade to openwebmail 1.81 to account for the bug. Unfortunately, this bug and the problem that you are experiencing do not seem related. One is possible file corruption. The other is "premature end of script headers" which is content presentation problem. To run from command prompt, change to that directory and run ./openwebmail.pl.

Thanks stickman
I have done it with the advices, and I have updated the openwebmail in 1.8 ,but the question was still exist, and I run the script like this : # ./openwebmail.pl, the linux told me that:
Can't locate CGI.pm in @ing (@ing contains:/usr/lib/perl5.8.0/i386-linux-thread-multi/usr/lib/perl5/5.8.0 /usr/lib/perl5/site_perl/5.8.0/i386-linux-thread-multi /usr/lib/perl5/site_perl/5.8.0 /usr/lib/perl5/site_perl /usr/lib/perl5/vendor_perl/5.8.0) at ./openwebmail.pl line 33. begin failed--compilation aborted at ./openwebmail.pl line 33.
what can I do for this ?

Ok. This is a relatively easy fix. Head on over to CPAN and download CGI.pm.

I am having a similar problem. I am getting a "Premature end of script headers: openwebmail-main.pl" on webmail 2.51 on linux ES3. The problem is intermittent. There is no rhyme or reason but when I get the error I simply refresh the page and it runs. Can anyone explain why this comes and goes? In my error_log it's always the same error but sometimes it's a different .pl file throwing it. AND every time I refresh it runs fine. I am stumped!
Premature end of script headers: openwebmail-read.pl
Premature end of script headers: openwebmail-main.pl
FYI I know this in an old thread so I am going to post a new thread. please forgive my cross posting in advance.

Well, I figured it out. The version of openwebmail 2.51 I used was the latest build (june 28th 2005) and seems to be un-stable. SO, I un-installed it and installed the stable version of 2.51 (feb 28th 2005) and all seems well.
I hope this helps anyone else who may run into the problem as I found very little support on the matter and the openwebmail project seems to be at a standstill. Looks like the original developer "Thomas Chung" is M.I.A.
If anyone knows where he is, tell him he is sorely missed right now as openwebmail is a killer free web based mail program.
