how to find the kernel source tree
 
Im a linux newbie , I am trying to install a new ISA card it tells me to find manually the kernel source tree, but my problem is I dont know where is it at RH 7.1,
Is anybody who can help find it

I used the uname -a it displays 2.4.2-2, as I chek the directory why it does'nt exist I try to edit the installation file it fails it says it can't find the valid kernel src tree in /usr/src/linux-2.4.2-2 . Again Im working on Redhat 7.1

Have u installed the kernel source RPM first??

I'd get a more up to date kernel.

Head over to http://www.kernel.org/ and download it. Then read the Kernel HOWTO at http://www.linuxdoc.org/HOWTO/

siddiqu is correct, you need to install the kernel source rpm from your redhat cd.
